Leg span about 3", egg sac about ½" in diameter, and chalky white. Hogna sp., I think. Anyone know the species?
Rainforest underbrush, Maya Mt. foothills, western Belize
This large spider was trying to escape a column of army ants, and was bouncing across the road when I spotted her. I diverted the stream of ants with a stick while she made her getaway to the safety of vegetation across the road. She was either exhausted or had been bitten, because it was several hours before she managed to creep off into a safer place.
