Description:

A large mass of tightly packed carpophores sharing an old tree stump with mosses. Carpophores some 3 to 10 cm large, black in the centre, brownish on edges and white-grey below.

Habitat:

Very common polypore around. Seen in winter time on a dead log in a reserve near Geneva; on shores of Rhône, in a natural reserve close to lake Geneva (Leman)
