Oenanthe pleschanka
Roughly the size of House Sparrow, but slimmer and long-tailed Wheatear. All observed breeding males (Photo N° 1 & 2) observed in Ethiopia show pale brown crown, nape and back, with silvery reflex, and black face and throat. Wings are also black, and the black of the throat is connected with the black of wings (diagnostic). Cream or buff coloured below. Female (photo N° 3 - 5), grayish above, and cream below.
Observed in semi-arid acacia savanna of Eastern Ethiopia, near human settlements, but not in them. Pied Wheatear makes a common apparition in these parts of Ethiopia, in area that includes north of Somali Region, on higher altitudes around Jigjiga, Dire-Dawa and Harar.
