A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Artibeus lituratus (Olfers, 1818)
This species is distributed from Mexico to northern Argentina and practically throughout Brazil and it is a very common species in several preserved areas of the Atlantic Forest, the most frequently found species in the state of Espírito Santo, especially in urban centers.
Artibeus liituratus weighs between 44 and 87g and with a wingspan 32-33 cm, is considered one of the greatest Brazilian bats.
It feeds on insects, leaves and fruits mainly.
They was in a mulberry tree, in the yard of the house where I was living, which is in a neighborhood near of Atlantic Forest and still surrounded by fragments of this forest.
The town of the coordinates that I gave for search, is not DUQUE DE CAXIAS, as reports the search map of this page, but PETRÓPOLIS.
