Clavaria zollingeri
This fungus produces beautiful purple fruit bodies that are tubular and fragile to the touch. The elements of the fruiting body branch frequently and have rounded tips. The entire fungus looks like a cluster of tiny, purple antlers.
Growing on the ground in a deciduous forest.
Although edible in small quantities, the fruiting bodies are so fragile that they are of limited culinary value. Also, they may have a laxative effect, which increases their undesirability.

Thanks for the comment Felix. I nearly walked right by it because it was so small and the forest so dark, but the color jumped out at me. This was the first time I've seen this species!
Wow, amazing colour!
Thanks Brian :). I'll add it to the mission.
Great spotting and pics Christine !! Consider placing it in the 2017 Best Wildlife Photo mission ?
