American Alligator Tracks

Alligator mississippiensis

Description:

Fresh tracks today coming from the water at the edge of Lake Lewisville. Last summer it was reported that there has been a 3-4 foot Alligator spotted sunning on the edge of the lake behind me. Now that the tracks have returned I will have to start trying for a photo.

Habitat:

Edge of Lake Lewisville behind my home.

Notes:

Lake Lewisville is a man made flood control reservoir. These American Alligators are in East Texas, but not really here in North Texas. They do get into the lake from time to time. There was a huge one that was found dead in 2010 that Texas Parks and Wildlife had to haul away from the shoreline.
