Large. Bristly. Dark with diamond pattern on its back. Those white dots on its back seem to be primer droplets because the house is being painted.
It had crawled out of the garden and onto the veranda most likely looking for a place to pupate. Since the interior was not safe for it, I carefully relocated it in the garden.
