San Pedro Martir Coyote

Canis latrans clepticus

Description:

This coyote emerged from the Oak trees to hunt in an open field. I didn't see it catch anything but it did return at least two more times the same day. The video shows it walking around and you can hear the California Ground Squirrel sound its rhythmic alarm.

Habitat:

Open field surrounded by Oaks and Coast Sage Scrub at Daley Ranch. This subspecies is found in Southern California, down into Baja California.
