Bornean bristlehead

Pityriasis gymnocephala

Description:

An uncommon endemic species of the canopy forest of Borneo. Our guide was very happy that we spotted it as it is considered the national bird of Sabah (or Malaysia) and is a rarity to find. Unfortunately it was perched at a great distance from us at the top of the canopy and the evening was cloudy and dark so I could not get better quality shots.

Habitat:

Kinabatangan River, Sukau, Sabah.
