Puma concolor Linnaeus, 1771
The cougar (Puma concolor), also commonly known as the mountain lion, puma, panther, or catamount, is a large felid of the subfamily Felinae native to the Americas. Its range, from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes of South America, is the greatest of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere.
An adaptable, generalist species, the cougar is found in most American habitat types. It is the second-heaviest cat in the New World, after the jaguar.

Contrary its habits of crepuscular and nocturnal activity, I noticed this puma on November 9, 2014, at 9:38 AM (GMT +3), when it appeared coming toward me walking in the middle of the street, while I was in the car, taking photographs of a sloth who was with its baby, in the place where I usually go daily, in a very green neighborhood, surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, in Petrópolis, Rio de Janero.
The town of the coordinates that I gave for search, is not DUQUE DE CAXIAS, as reports the search map in this page, but PETRÓPOLIS.
