Heliopsis helianthoides

Description:

Bright yellow flower heads with 20-30 petals with a yellow center, only one flower head per stem. Leaves are coarsely toothed.

Habitat:

Spotted at Tamarac NWR at the Chippewa Picnic area. Can be found in sunny fields, often on sandy soil.

Notes:

Aster family. Also called Ox-eye.
