The orange things are eggs. I have uploaded a very short video showing their wiggly swimming. There were dozens of them swimming in the water, so I scooped a few up in a bucket for photographs before putting them back. Most were 1.5 cm or less

Habitat:

Close to the docks in the harbor, swimming just below the surface
