White Chicken Mushroom

Laetiporus persicinus

Description:

Large mushroom with deep brown coloration on inside of cap and underside/stem. Outside edge of cap is white "frosted" looking. Flesh is white. Firm texture, no gills.

Habitat:

Temperate forest. Rockwood Park, Virginia.

Maybe like Laetiporus persicinus then.

It was growing from the ground under mainly oak. I suspect it originated from roots under the soil.
