Odontotaenius disjunctus
1.5 inch long beetle that is shiny black and has long grooves on their elytra. I found this one walking along a walking path. They prefer to walk rather than use their wings. Short video: https://youtu.be/5F4oeaXJ9ns
Spotted at the Garvan Woodland Gardens.
Adults are more commonly found in or under rotting logs of oak and elm - their main food source.
