Congratulations Marek, this stunning Harp Coral is our Spotting of the Day! Thank you Marta for identification.
"We never cease to be amazed by the beauty and diversity of the underwater world! It's been likened to a lyre, a comb or a harp: this elegant Harp Coral (Ctenocella pectinata) is our Spotting of the Day. This coral in the family Ellisellidae is made of long unbranched stems emerging from a lower horizontal branch, with the vertical stems arising parallel to one another. These corals belong to Anthozoa, a class of marine invertebrates which includes sea anemones, stony and soft corals as well as gorgonians. Adults Anthozoans are almost all attached to the seabed, while their larvae form part of the plankton".
