Deloyala guttata
A gold and wine-red tortoise shell beetle that landed on a fence post. I only got 1 shot of him before he flew away. So sad when that happens. Family Chrysomelidae.
Lake Catemaco, Veracruz, Mexico.
Thank you so much bayucca. It is possible that fuliginosa is a subspecies of guttata as in this reference? (http://naturalista.conabio.gob.mx/taxa/3...). There is so much more for guttata than for fuliginosa and they all look like the same beetle with enormous variabilidad.
Chrysomelidae, Cassidinae, Cassidini, Deloyala sp., cannot really tell you which one it is. I think it should either be Deloyala fuliginosa or Deloyala guttata, bot extremely variable and both found in Mexico. Maybe you find out more... In the suggestion link from Costa Rica you also find some more links of both species.
