Mottled Tortoise Beetle

Deloyala guttata

Description:

A gold and wine-red tortoise shell beetle that landed on a fence post. I only got 1 shot of him before he flew away. So sad when that happens. Family Chrysomelidae.

Habitat:

Lake Catemaco, Veracruz, Mexico.

Thank you so much bayucca. It is possible that fuliginosa is a subspecies of guttata as in this reference? (http://naturalista.conabio.gob.mx/taxa/3...). There is so much more for guttata than for fuliginosa and they all look like the same beetle with enormous variabilidad.
