Soldier Beetle

Rhagonycha sp.

Description:

Small, elongated beetle with black elytra, red and black protonum and a black head. Legs are green with black femora above the "knees". Found feeding (?) at a spittlebug nest.

Habitat:

Temperate forest. Rockwood Park, Virginia.

Notes:

I need to take some time to ID. Just getting it up here. :-)

Thank you for the ID suggestion FredLuizRomeiro! My beetle does seem to have some slight differences from the one you suggested, but they are similar. The hunt shall continue.
