Cuckoo Wasp

Chrysididae Spp.

Description:

1/3 inch long flying insect with large, rounded eyes. Wings are black, and body is metallic blue-green. Most of the body is covered in tiny pits and there are a decent number of small hairs, especially on the abdomen and thorax. Legs and antennae are mostly black, with slight metallic sheen most prominent on back most legs.

Habitat:

Was found trapped inside my kitchen window at the edge of a 5-acre property with a large field and some woodlands near Elgin, TX.

Notes:

Picture was taken after it was escorted out of the house with paper and a cup, it flew away shortly after. :) Help pinpointing the exact species is much appreciated!
