Pink Sundew

Drosera capillaris

Description:

Many sundews were present along the trail. These carnivorous plants trap prey with sticky glands on their leaves and use them for nutrients. This one had a globular springtail caught on it, as you can see in photo 3 if you look closely at the leaf in focus

Habitat:

Moist, poorly drained soil that recently received a lot of rain at Hal Scott Regional Preserve and Park. You could observe sundews and other carnivorous plants growing next to the trail in many places
