Rhododendron camtschaticum
A very small prostrate rhododendron with large (relative to the rest of the plant) reddish/pink flowers. The plant is deciduous and the flowers develop from the stem not set as buds the year before like a lot of other rhododendron sp. Grows up to 500mm when mature or if environment allows.
Found on both sides of the Bering Straight and on the Asian side, down to Japan. This plant found on the Kamchatka Peninsular. It prefers cold conditions with good light.
This is another species that has been hybridized by horticulturists for ornamental purposes.
