Sporophila caerulescens (Vieillot, 1823)
The "coleirinho" is a passerine bird of Thraupidae family, which measures 12 cm. The male has the white and black collar that gives its popular name. In addition to the collar, in the side its black neck, one white "mustache" defines the area under the yellow beak or slightly gray-green. The female is all brown, darker on the back and under heavy light, you can see that it also has the male's throat drawing sketch. Juvenile males leave the nest with the plumage similar to female. Females are not songbirds.
They live in open filds and grasslands, occurring almost throughout Brazil, with the exception of the Amazon and Northeast regions, and can be found even in urban areas.
