Papa-taoca-do-sul (White-shouldered Fire-eye) - Female

Pyriglena leucoptera (Vieillot, 1818)

Description:

The "papa-taoca-do-sul" (Pyriglena leucoptera) is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae, found in Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay and mesuring about 17 centimeters. The male is glossy black, with red eyes and has two white stripes on the wings and hidden white dorsal area. The female is brown with lighter bottoms, with the same eyes and hidden macula of males.

Habitat:

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist mountain forests and occurs from Bahia to Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
