Description:

Bristly stem that sprouts purple flowers. This is a medicinal plant that has a wide distribution through Europe, Asia and North America. It is supposed to be entirely edible even though it doesn't look at all enticing to eat.

Habitat:

Forest, about 5 km up Mt. Huitepec, west of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico.
