Baby Tarantulas

Description:

Small black spiderlings with gray hairs on the legs and some on the abdomen.

Habitat:

Found on a bench outside the house (700 masl) one morning @ 09:00 in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

It was a really cute parade of follow-the-leader. I have no idea if the leader knew where it was going, but others were following it.

Yes, cute little critters. Avicularia is at the top of the possibilities list. I can't even identify the big ones, let alone the little ones :-) We have so many different kinds it's frustrating. I can go out on any given night and find half a dozen in just a few minutes, some having been in the same place for years, provided the Indians don't find them. They kill them "just because they can" I think. I try not to draw attention to them. There are always a few in our house.
