Soft Wing Flower Beetle

Description:

Tiny metallic grey beetles that are often in groups of 5 to 10 per flower. They are about 4 mm long. Family Melyridae, Subfamily Dasytinae. Because they live mostly in flowers, they are important pollinators of many flower species, especially the Composites.

Habitat:

Forest, about 5 km up Mt. Huitepec, west of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico.
