Antheraea polyphemus

Antheraea polyphemus

Description:

Classic eye pattern on wings. Was lethargic, but responsive to a light touch.

Habitat:

Apartment building along tree line in the Tennessee Valley. Suburban.

Notes:

Eventually found its way to the floor of the breezeway after resting on the wall for three days. Lightly touched it a few times to encourage it to move away from foot traffic—suddenly took flight and disappeared in the trees.
