Oophaga pumillio
Small frog species know for their color polymorphism in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. This specimen was found on Isla Solarte with in the archipelago. All of the frogs on this island are red. But, on other islands they are blue, yellow, green, orange and every color in between with and without spots. Reference my previous spottings for other color morphs. On Isla Solarte, these frogs can be easily found in the hundreds. This specimen had made claim to a small cup fungi on the ground.
Old growth rainforest, moist understories and high in the canopies around bromeliads where they raise their young.

Lovely spotting, love the color. So cute inside the mushroom. Congratulations on the nomination LuckyLogan.
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
