Golden Green Stag Beetle

lamprima latreillii

Description:

After spending almost 3 hours rolling fallen logs in the forest, I didn't come across any lamprima latreillii adult. Suspecting maybe the early summer was still too early for beetles, I reluctantly reconciled to the fact that I had to go back home emptyhanded. Right at the moment when I reached the walking track from the deep of the forest to head back to the car park, I stepped on a small rotten log that won't normally attract my attention for beetles. However, the hidden inhabitants inside were none other than the beetles I was looking for ---- Golden Green Stag Beetles! To my great surprise, there are 6 males, 3 females and pupae as well. What a lucky day!
