Lesser Flamingo

Phoenicopterus minor

Description:

This mass of pink flamingos were feeding from the salt lake in the Ngorongoro crater. this wasnt peak season for them in the great rift valley as there were less here than earlier in the year. unfortunately they were very far off and we didnt go on a route that took us any nearer to them.

Habitat:

Ngorongoro crater, Tanzania

Notes:

The haze in the background of the photo was due to the salt water evaporating in the midday heat.

Thanks Christy, I would have loved to get closer and get a more detailed individual shot but we got sidetracked by the big 5 and never passed their lake any nearer.
