Peacock anemone (ανεμώνη)

Anemone pavonina

Description:

Anemone pavonina is a Mediterranean species with dark-green leaves and bright, cup-shaped blooms in pink, purple or red, and sometimes in white. This time of year they can be found in full bloom, in prairies and olive groves, and usually -in my area- they come in bright red, as the ones in the pics. They were spotted and photographed in Nea Demetrias suburb, Volos city, Greece.
