Streamline Chub

Erimystax dissimilis

Description:

~3 inch long yellow-brown fusiform fish with dark blotches along the lateral line.

Habitat:

Found in swift current often above or below a riffle in 1-4 feet of water over a clean gravel bottom. Clinch River.

Notes:

It is an indicator of good water quality in medium to large rivers. I was invited by a Virginia Fisheries biologist to go out with him and some students from Virginia Tech to look for fish in the Clinch River.
