one of several species of manillas found in Madagascar. it was identified as a yellow mantilla by the guide who pointed it out.
found by a stream in low vegetation
OK, it would be helpful if you added the information about the two views in the description as the comments are not easily seen but the notes and description always appear with the picture. You can check our FAQs for more information.

It does seem to key out as a Baron's painted mantella. Thanks for the link!
Hi Malcolm, the first picture is a dorsal view and the second picture is the ventral side of the same frog. Shows the orange on hind legs and black/green of the belly.
The ID I suggested is the frog in the first picture. The black frog with green markings I have not found a match. It may be a different Genus or it could be a variation of one of the others. Better still, you may have discovered a new species, though that is less likely.
Hi Bev, you appear to have more than one species here, but here at PN different species must be made separate spottings as per our FAQs. Here is a link to a listing of all the Mantella frog species http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantella
You can click on all the links in this list to find which 2 species you have here and then identify each one correctly. Good luck.
