Poor little Crane Fly covered in Mites

Description:

This very small Crane Fly is so covered in mites (maybe as many as 40) that it looks like an orange insect. It must increase it's weight by at least double and if they are feeding on its hemolymph, it will probably die. The fly was about 5 mm long. Family Tipulidae.

Habitat:

Finca Argovia, Ruta de Cafe, Soconusco area of southern Chiapas, Mexico. About 1 hour from Tapachula.
