Staphylea pinata L.
Staphylea pinnata is a deciduous shrub growing to 4.5 m. It is in flower from May to June, and the seeds ripen from Sep - Nov. Its white flowers are hermaphrodite and are pollinated by flies. On the photo is shown its fruit.
Woodland garden sunny edge; dappled shade; shady edge (like the one on the photo) It is found throughout Central and South Europe.
Yellow-brown seeds are edible (said to taste like pistachios).
