Irradescent blue/black. About 1" long. very hairy body and legs.
Solitary and nests in the earth. Found in Australia
The female wasp locates beetle grubs and digs down to lay her eggs on the grub. They are solitary and don't make communal nests, however in mid to late summer they often form small swarms flying low over an area of turf, compost heap or shrub. The adults take nectar from flowers.
