Cape Weaver Bird

Ploceus capensis

Description:

Saw this weaver birds in the garden of the Resort I am staying at. This one was seen early in the morning, and got a good catch of praying mantis for her breakfast. Cape Weaver are endemic to South Africa.

Habitat:

The Males construct the nest by weaving them with grasses, hence their name, to impress and court the females. If the females are not impressed, she might even 'cut' off the nest that the Male has weaved and he will have to start all over again.
