American Toad

Anaxyrus [Bufo] americanus

Description:

American Toads have swollen parotoid glands and postorbital ridges that are completely separated from the glands. Their backs are covered in warts, with only one or two warts in the largest dark spots on their backs. A female (ca 3 inches in length).

Habitat:

In leaf litter on floodplain above a permanent creek; deciduous-forested area.
