Colubrine Sea Krait,Yellow Lipped Sea Krait, Banded Sea Krait

Laticauda colubrina

Black and light "blue" banded snake. Lighter on the belly and at the tail the bands were connected. This was not such a big one (juvenile?) about 60 cm maybe. (didn't measure it :-)) What was interesting is that one of his bands (nr5 from the head down ) was not the whole way round. (see picture 4 ) I could not really see its lips (if they were yellow) as it kept on sticking its head in the coral looking for something to eat.

Koh Racha Yai, Andaman Sea, Phuket, Thailand

I am going to keep a look out for this Banded Krait especially now it is so easy to regognise.
