Purple sea urchin

Strongylocentrotus purpuratus

Description:

A large sea urchin with spikes that are very sharp. Obviously purple, it feeds on algae and decaying matter such as fish or maybe even an apple corpse that was washed out. Very active urchin but be very careful when you touch one.

Habitat:

Shallow areas of water such as tide pools. The deep coral reefs and have been found 45 meters down.
