Eastern Garter Snake

Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis

Description:

The only local snake with a light stripe down its back. They have quite variable coloration with some individuals having very faint or no stripes at all.

Habitat:

This one was sunning itself in front of our Red-tailed hawk's enclosure.

Notes:

First snake of the year!
