Rubber Vine

Cryptostegia grandiflora

Habitat:

Native to south-west Madagascar. It is also a significant weed in northern Australia, sometimes regarded as the worst weed in all of Australia. It has also been introduced to most other tropical and subtropical regions.

Notes:

Seen growing here over acacias in an arid disturbed roadside field.

It's a pity that some of the introduced & damaging species have such beautiful flowers. It's sad that they take over. Says a lot about why natural controls are so important.
