Salvia verbenaca
A very variable short to tall perennial. Stems erect glandular-hairy in the upper part. Basal leaves in a rosette, pinnately-lobed, with oblong lobes, wrinkled above, toothed, long-stalked; upper leaves short-stalked or unstalked. Flower pale blue, liliac or violet.
Spotted in the little valley between Pnyx and Aeropagus, north-west of the Acropolis of Athens.
Greek name: Ελελίφασκος ο ιεροβοτανοειδής. Greek common names: Άγριος βασιλικός, Σαρκοθρόφι, Γοργόγιαννη.
