Borneo Dwarf Bee

Description:

Tiny black bee, about half inch or smaller, when in flight his legs hang down and you can see the pollen sacks which he stores from each flower he visits. There are many bees his size and some sting and some dont, each one has its unique style building nests. This one is the stinging type.

Habitat:

Usually find this bee near Banana trees usually in the trunk area or between each crevice of the leaf..I have not seen this type of bee in any other location but the Banana trees.

Notes:

sometimes you have to toss a stone or something before harvesting your bananas, if disturbed they fly out and are everywhere....if you see nothing than it ok to harvest the fruit, but still be careful, I have had many painful encounters with them and for tiny little fellas they leave a whopping punch. So of the locals here say getting sting by these particular bees is medicinal...lol well it does not help me hahaha..they seem to like making nests when there is 3 or more trees next to each other...
