Anhinga anhinga
The anhinga is a large bird that is about three feet in length. The male is mostly black with white and black patterned back and wings. It has a long yellow beak and wings. The female is similar in appearance but has a light brown neck and head.
The anhinga lives in shallow fresh water that is sheltered so that it can perch on nearby trees. They may also breed in saltwater areas.
