Hypsoropha monilis
Forewing warm light brown, orange at base and along outer margin. Four whitish spots inside lower half of postmedial line, and fainter whitish spots beyond st. line, near apex. Antennae bipectinate in both sexes. Hindwing pale orangish, darker toward outer margin. Wing Span: 3.2-4.2 cm.
Kentucky and North Carolina to Florida, west to central Missouri and Texas. This one was photographed at a porch light on the edge of a southern deciduous forest in Edgefield County, SC.
Per BAMONA, this is a new record of this species in Edgefield County, SC. Flight: April to August. Caterpillar Host: Persimmon.
