Smooth-handed ghost crab

Ocypode cordimanus

Description:

Ocypode cordimanus is a species of crab in the family Ocypodidae, sometimes called the smooth-handed ghost crab. They are white in color, but as they grow larger they turn into a dark greyish color.

Habitat:

It is widely distributed in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. It creates a protective burrow where it hides whenever it feels threatened. These can be seen in beaches.

Notes:

I picked it up to take a shot of it then released it back into its burrow.
