Feather Wing Moth

Description:

Rather large Feather Wing Moth, about 1.5 cm, with an interesting wing pattern, no evidence of the underwings and a lumpy abdomen. I like its feathered stripped legs! It stands at rest on the first two pairs of legs and hold the third pair close to the body. The antennae of most moths are held above the wings, this one holds its antennae below the wings. Family Pterophoridae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

The last picture was taken on April 4th in the same place.
