White-bellied Go-away Bird

Corythaixoides leucogaster

Description:

The White-bellied Go-away Bird is a widespread bird of Africa, belonging to turaco (Musophagidae) family. The main feature is that long pointed crest. Overall appearance is grey, with the a sharp separation from the white belly. Wings are barred black; and tail white and black.

Habitat:

The bird is endemic to East Africa, and found in savanna and open woodland. I often observed at the edges of human habitations or agricultural fields, perched high in acacia trees.

Notes:

Its call is is almost unmistakable - almost sounds like a sheep. It can also be found under a scientific name Criniferoides leucogaster.
