Description:

The Banded alder borer is a longhorn beetle with distinctive black and white markings. 1.5 inches in length.

Habitat:

Spotted on a dead alder tree -- this is where they lay their eggs. Riparian forest at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.
