Description:

Thick trunk with thin branches sticking out at all angles, from top to bottom. Branches covered seasonally with small dark-green leaves.

Habitat:

Baja California and Sonoran Desert in Arizona and Mexico.

Notes:

Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. This specimen is in its native desert habitat, though not strictly speaking a sighting "in the wild". The English name "Boojum tree" was invented by Godfrey Sykes, of the Arizona Desert Lab, a reference to Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark".
